                                                               Wizardry for dummies


Wizarsdry for dummies is 90 second short film for Depict, this is the second project  that we experience to make. However we dont get to be in the same group as the first project so we have to learn to work together as a team. We go trough our work together instead of sitribute our work in three pieces , however we let the the person who better at each partt to lead others also I belive this is how it should be to make the best out of our project (Depict production). We have 3 weeks to complete this project this including instruction, shooting and editing.
As this project is for our college so we wont be able to gain any funding or either make any money on it so we have no choice but to do a lowe budget film. We did this by having our friends who are viewing to help us as an actors and also borrowing camera, probs and using some of our own equipment(we didn't spend any money on this project).
However there is one big problem which is copyright as we have Harry Potter wand from the latest Harry Potter film and spellist (even know me make the spell list our self but we still used the name of the spell in the Harry potter film), as if we have to do it in the profestional ways we wil have to ask for the permission.  However
as this is a second project I'm happy with this production.

Mise-en-scence
My team and I have made 90 seconds short film for DepicT competition and we shot this in East Norfolk Sixth Form COllege.  My film last for 1 minute and 34 second including the instrucktion at the end of the scene. We used some of our own clothe and also equipment like the wand in Harry potter films we also obtain lowe cost equipment by borrowing from family, friend and college.
As the scene is shoot in the small room so we have problaem to control the light as in certain angle of the camera catch the light more then others so the lighting is not even. Howver we manged to fixed it by editing using  Blacke fillter.

Camera  work
The location we shoot for our scene is quite small so we can't move around and using each different camera angles as we wish, this basically mean the camera work is not so great you can clearly see it in the final shoot because we used hand help in this shoot. The certain scene it went eo quick and i believe the audience will find it hard to be able to follow the story of our scene and I also belive that the audience would want to see more of the information on each shoot.We also have make mistake on some match on action for example when the actors press the wand in the spell list the wand dont stay in the same angle.

 Editing
Our group spent a week to compelted the editing for our Depict  project  with help of our media teacher. There is one case that make it alot hardder which is the fact that we used green screen ( when the glasses flow up ), we spend quite a whilebe able to find the best effect to make the best out of this project. As in each shoot the light is not evens so we have to work on lighting effect quite a lot, however the lighting still not perfect and there is nothing we can so about it, we have tried black filter and other lighting effect but for some reason it dont work as well how ever we still used black filter and other lighting effect. Next we did the sound editing this surprise me because it was easier then what i thought.


Sound
After we finish on our video editing we move on to the audio, we did this using the microphone and also asking one our friend and member of my group to do the speake. Instead of having music back ground we used the back ground sound ;in the other word ambient sound and also sychonous sound. I  believe this is work better then music back ground. When the character thinking in his head we used the audio edit to make it more like profrashional film maker by using the effect on editing (echo) but there is one mistake as it's also sound similar because the person who help us on this have a very solf voice which mean it already sound a littlebit like echo and we cant do much about it. We record the back ground sound in the libraly after finish on the vedio edit; lighting and shoot. As we filming we notice that in the libraly have the perfect background noise of people talking and not to lound.
However after we did we finish this project we have some oppininon from teacher and class friend that we also should also have the music black ground to make it more interesting as music can help to lead the audience to follw the story and reflection on actions from each shoot.
