Proposal
Original ideas
At the very first start I have 3 ideas for my media text documentary style, my first idea is ''adult with learing difficult shows'' (seagull theatre in Lowestoft) which is about people with learing difficult including autistic, dowsyndrome and any other brain issue who work as an actor/actress in this theatre (this film will mainly show about fact, oppinion, process and improvement for those withlearing difficult ).
The second ideas which suggest by the teacher is about me as a person from Thailand in the UK which mainly focuss on me, this including the way I feel living in the UK, how hard is it to change everything to fit in the culture, my original every day life and my family back ground.
My third idea is teenager who was abused when he was a child which is my personal interest and believe this should be expose to the public. This is a very interesting idea, think is is one of the best i dea I have out of all. However after talk to my teacher(ellie) she suggest that this topic will be very hard to created because I will need to cover up the person's identity and plus the time I'm given to created this vedio wont be enough.and to make this vedio i'll have to be very careful of what im doing. After the suggestion I stick with very first idea which is seagull theatre beacause my second ideas have some of the personal issue of why I cant make it.
I chose number 1 - learing difficult and theatre
My documentary 3 minutes wonder ideas is about people who work with those who have learing difficult at seagull theatre around my area. From my research I have found a few interesting techniques that can be used in my documentary film such as voice over to describe the situation but at the same time the character is talk also and the ways sound tract can be used. This film will mainly focuses on the feeling and process and what the staff love about their jobs. As those people with disability work at seagull theatre this mean I'll film behind the stage and in front of the stage if i can get the permission.
If possible I'll also interview to head of the office to get an in depth opinion of why he's running this theatre.
Purpose
The main purpose of this documentary is to challenge the usual stereotypes about people with disability by focuses and relies on the staff's opinion and experience. Without story broad because this is a documentary style I'll have to used recce techniques and decide where the camera can be put before hand. To make this form of documentary successful I'll have to used mixture of different documentary techniques style but base on observational documentary. This is special interest type of documentary also it's also my personal interest and I believe this assessment can be used as a opportunity for me to access the way this theatre's running and learn more about those people.
Target audience
From my primary research I believe my main target audience is a slightly older teenager to mid middle age people the age between 18 - 50. However this mean there will also be people around this certain age that interest in my documentary subject for example the age between 15-17 and 50+. I also believe this subject can have the very wild range of audience including people who have disability in the family.
Location
I'll film at the seagull theatre in Lowestoft which is about 35 minutes walk from my house and this shouldn't make to much of a problem for me. I know one of the staff that work in there very well and this make it quite easy for me to access in the building (as the person I know ask for the permission for me).
Who will need to be in the scene
To make this scene successful I'll need to have the staff, those actor/actress with disability and even better with the head officer to express they view and show the way they work in the film. In this project I'm working on my own so it will take less time to film because I wont need to make an agreement with other. I also can design how I want it to be exactly however I will need to take part as a directer and editor.
Interview
On my idea if this film will mainly be talking head this mean I'll need to provide the interviewee the question and give them times to be able to think what they going to talk about. So the question for the actor, actress with disability is how they feel about working in the seagull theatre. The question for the staff will be about how they feel working with disability people and what do they love about it. As if I could interview the head officer the question for him/her will be what is the purpose this theatre.
Probs and budget
Props and costume will be usually for every days life to make this documentary style narrative and look normal as possible. This mean I wont need to provide props but filming equipment e.g. camera, tripod etc. As I dint have any budget given to make this documentary so if I need anything in order to be able to created this documentary style I'll have to spend my money.
Update after discussion with my teacher
I need to work out who I will focus the documentary on - In the documentary I'm not going to focuses on the person, in order I'll focus on the staff/disability people's feeling and the process that they are giving during the acting. The main point of this documentary is to show the main purpose of the theatre. By using mixture of documentary style filming and editing techniques I believe it will help to get to the audience 's emotion.
